Tim Healey and Deekline

Tim Healey and Deekline are launching a new label that goes by the wonderful name of Giant Pussy. You probably know breaks legend Deekline for his work with Wizard and his Rat Records label and Tim used to be in a band called Coburn but now makes ghetto house. We spoke to Tim to find out more about Giant Pussy.

How did you meet Deekline and why have you started a label together?

I met Deekline at a great gig in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in 2008. We had a lot of mutual respect for each other's output. He got me to remix his tune 'The Bomb', out shortly on Rat Records, and he loved it so much he suggested we do a label together.

What's the concept behind the label?

Ghetto house A-sides, dubstep B-sides. It's the urban-club fusion sound of now. Basically there are no boundaries; we fuse breaks, r&b, hip-hop, techno and house. But there is severe quality control: production must be 200%, vibe 300%. To say we're perfectionists is an understatement.

Who is going to release on it? Anyone else beside yourselves?

For sure, though we definitely have a slew of singles stacked up ready for release, we've been recruiting cutting edge producers from UK based Stupid Fresh to Detroit's DJ Godfather.

Then there's German hip hop heavyweight Tai Jason and rising Brazilian electro stars Felguk. We've been working a load of UK MCs, rappers and vocalists from Bubbz and African Boy to Bad Lay-dee and also State-side rappers like Omega and Sporty-o.

Forthcoming releases?

Our first release was the official 2009 remixes of 'Yo Yo Get Funky' by Chicago acid house legend Fast Eddie with remixes from ourselves alongside a Crissy Criss dubstep rework. Our new single is by Tai and I and it features 'Pocket Rocket' and 'Mash Up Boys'. Tes La Rok has remixed 'Pocket Rocket' and it's out now.
