Russian drum and bass producer Subwave recently signed to Hospital Records so we had to find out why and what he's got in store for us...
Why have you signed exclusively with Hospital?
It's the most professional record label in the scene. I've always looked for their releases and now it's a big honour to be a part of Hospital Records. I think we can work well together.
When can we expect your first 12" on Hospital?
Pretty soon!
Tell us more about your two tracks on Hospital's The Future Sound of Russia compilation...
About a year ago I stopped making drum and bass because I thought that I couldn't bring anything new to d+b and I decided to try making other styles. I was playing minimal techno parties which I'm really into. Also I was trying to produce in all kings of musical genres. That was a great experience and I'm back into drum and bass again. I wanted to bring some progressive house and minimal techno influences to my tunes for The Future Sound Of Russia album and that's why I've made Stars Get Down and I Need You.
I keep hearing good things about the state of the Russian drum & bass scene, what's your take on things?
Yeah, the Russian dnb scene is a very big. We have raves with 30,000 people and we have good club parties. A lot of guys here are making great music, so I think everything will just get better.
What are you currently working on in the studio?
Doing a tunes for Hospital and still trying to push new ideas to dnb music.
Done any interesting remixes recently?
Yeah, I've just finished a remix of London Elektricity's Bare Religion which I really like. I'm also working on a remix of Bop's – Song About My Dog. I Hope to finish it in a few days.
What's the next challenge for you?
My solo LP for Hospital - can't wait for that to happen!
