Stanton Warriors

The Stanton Warriors are about to embark on their most ambitious UK tour yet. They're ramping up their production, sound, lighting and visuals, making it definitely not to be missed. Dom B took time out of preparations to give us the lowdown...

Tell us more about your forthcoming tour, what can people expect?
We're playing longer sets and bringing in our own visuals and production. We really wanted to do things a certain way and showcase the right sounds and look.

Are you performing live or is it more of DJ / PA showcase?

To be honest it's semi-live, I play on three decks while Mark links in with his laptop dropping accapellas and parts of each tune in live which enables us to remix and mangle things on the fly. It's great to be able to have these options when playing out.

It sounds quite ambitious, did it take a lot of planning and organising?

Yes but it seemed like the next step for us. We put a lot into our DJ / live sets and thought we should notch it all up a level. Tickets sales for all the gigs has been exceptional so we're happy with that.

You've hand-picked support bill on every show, tell us who we can expect to see?

We have slamming DJs such as Zinc, Jack Beats, Evil 9, Krafty Kuts, Toddla T, Deekline and a whole lot more.

Tell us more about the latest in your compilation series, 'Stanton Sessions Vol. 3'...
It's basically a mix of how we do things in our DJ sets. Anyone who has heard us play probably can't get hold of the tunes as most are exclusives to us. So we do these mixes to showcase how we do it in the clubs and festivals.

How does it compare with the previous two, did you approach it any differently...
Not really, we just took all the tunes that we considered new and exciting from various genres, put them through the Stanton grinder and mixed them altogether. The first two volumes won a lot of awards so we had to maintain the quality, luckily this one has won a couple of awards already so we're happy with that.

What else are you currently working on?
We're currently working on a new artist album. We have a lot of new talent from rappers to singers on there and the sound we're creating is something we haven't done before. The instrumental demos alone seem to be dropping heavy in our sets so we're keen to get the whole thing finished and out as soon as possible.

What else do you have coming out soon?
We have a few remixes coming out like Rye Rye & MIA - 'Bang' , Big Daddy Kane - 'Raw', Young MC - 'Know How', and a few other bits and pieces in the run up to the actual artist album being released.

Anything else you're doing you want to tell us about?
We're taking the Stanton Sessions brand on the road from September to January to Europe, Australia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, America, Canada and then back to London for a long stint recovering.
