RDG, as one half of the ROOT project, and co-owner of Surfase Records, is taking a lead in the rise of bass music across Europe. Now celebrating his latest release, the Commander EP, the young producer is stepping up to the next level. Kmag asked him about his music and more.

 

Hi RDG. We'd like to know a little more about you, so tell us about your career to date.

I am 23 years old, I live in Copenhagen, Denmark and I’m serious addicted to sub bass. I’m all over the genre, sub deep rollers, emotional cheese and mental midrange. I fell in love with dubstep around 06-07 andI’m still in love.


You have a new release out on July 16 - what does the release contain, and what is the style behind it?

All the tracks on The Commander EP have been chosen by New World Audio's label boss Squarewave. It’s a mix of jungle, wobble and dub bass, mixed up with my sci-fi mind.


You represent Denmark. What's the scene like over there?

It’s pretty quiet at the moment. The Danish crowd is hard to please but we keep on throwing parties now and then. We got our Surfase label night, where we keep on bringing new and legendary artists over. But we got some really talented producer coming up, people like Server, Triky, Plasticsun, JB, The Guild, Albert and Beastie Respond.


You also broadcast in Denmark - let us know a little more about that.

I did a guest mix with SRB for 2000F on the Danish National Broadcaster, DR, P3. and run a monthly tv-show for All Out Dubstep.


And you are playing at Outlook as well. Do you have anything else lined up this summer?

Outlook Festival is the biggest thing I have ever been booked to play and so I’m pretty exited about that, otherwise i think this summer is gonna be a little quiet for me. But then I can concentrate on making beats and party.
