Program

Ram has always been a label at the forefront of the drum & bass revolution. Now they are stepping up their game with the launch of the Program imprint. Kmag spoke to Ray from Ram about the new project, why it has been set up and what releases will be forthcoming from Program going forward.

Ram is known worldwide for its quality, variety and the impact of its releases. So why have you launched Program now? What are the aims and the hopes for the new label?
As part of our double-decade celebrations, we’re proud to launch an exhilarating new chapter in our history. Program is that chapter, a brand new record label that promises the very best in forward-thinking drum & bass from the most exciting producers from around the world. Program is guaranteed to offer you a taste of something different, with every bit of the quality control you would expect from Ram. We aim for Program to follow in Ram’s footsteps as another platform to springboard artists new & established onto future success.

What is going to be different about Program, as opposed to RAM?
Same imprint, different styles of D&B!

How have you chosen the artists on Program? What does an artist need to do to appeal to the new label?
A&Ring at Program is done the same as it is for Ram, we as a team listen to demos sent in, be it by mail, aim or even Soundcloud. Artists are selected on the great music we feel they make. Make great music and we will sign it!

Your debut release is Firethorn/Pandorum by Frankee – his solo debut. What does the release hold, and why was it chosen as Program’s first?
Frankee has got history with us here at Ram, with releasing his excellent collab ‘Nevada’ on Basher’s ‘Transmission LP’ on Ram in 2011. Frankee personally handed Scott and Ray a CD at Fabric, we feel like he is one of the crew you know. Firethorn/Pandorum was the first 12’’ signed to Program, which made it our first release. Pandorum has been a stable part of Andy’s set for quite some time now, it’s great to see the release become reality.

What are some other things in the pipeline, release wise?
With our 5th release already mastered, artwork has been done for the first three releases! We’re really excited about Program, the reaction has been amazing! It’s early days, we’re taking it all in our stride, but we would love to release artists’ albums in the near future. We have a Program takeover booked in with D&BTV on the 5th September, with a host of Program artists and special guests from the Ram label, full line up to be announced. Ram and Program will always be seen to go hand in hand, we’re like a big family here at Ram. Expect to see Program nights popping up and around the country soon. Dropping on the label, after the first release, will be straight D&B heat from Chroma, Frankee, Kove, LoKo, Wickaman, RV, Hoodlum and plenty more.

What are some of the ways in which people can follow Frankee and Program?
Head on over to Frankee’s Facebook and follow him via Twitter. Currently all news, promo, submissions can be done via Ram’s networks & website – Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, YouTube.
