Pinch runs the internationally renowned Bristol dubstep label Tectonic and his massive vocal anthem Get Up, featuring Massive Attack collaborator Yolanda, gets a long awaited single release on 30th November.

Tell us more about your new single Get Up...
The original track featured on my LP Underwater Dancehall and it soon became clear that Get Up was a big favourite from the LP for most people. I know this as I'd always get asked by promoters / ravers if it would be made available on vinyl - 'when, when, when?' sort of thing! After a while I started getting some remixes together and was quite fortunate as a few people even asked if they could remix (L.V., Guido and Jack Sparrow all volunteered to remix it!) simply cos they liked it so much. I was always fond of the instrumental (which was originally called Whirl) but I remember when Yolanda first started singing her lines in the studio - from the very offset - I knew it was going to be a big tune. She absolutely smashed it!

How did the collaboration with Yolanda come about?
I've known Yolanda for several years now - Bristol has a way of doing that, it's not such a big place and you soon meet so-and-so through this friend or that friend. As it happens though, I've known her longer than I've been making dubstep! Always loved her powerhouse diva style - it was only natural to ask her to collaborate on some music for my LP really.

Tell us more about the video...

The video is a bit of a random happening really. I wanted to do one but couldn't get my head around how to make something good but affordable. In the summer I was playing at Glade festival and ended up giving a friend of a friend a lift down there. It turned out that he (Tom Mansfield) made and directed short films and music videos and was up for doing one for me on a tight budget. He called in a bunch of favours from friends he had in the industry and it all came together really quickly and professionally. I love the mood and the lighting in the video - it all looks really seductive to me - he did a really good job.

Tell us more about some of the other forthcoming releases on your Tectonic label...
Next plate and last to land from Tectonic in 2009 is a huge plate from man of the moment - Joker. City Hopper and Output 1-2 are both massive tunes - definitely something to look forward to! Lots of new things to unleash in 2010 - watch this space...

What else have you been working on recently?
I've had a bit of a slow year for tune making and thats mainly because I decided to make the switch from PC / Fruity Loops to Mac / Logic. I've still got loads yet to learn but now I've got my head around most things and just started finishing up some new bits. I'm feeling excited about making beats again which, if I'm honest, has been missing from my life for a little while. Working right now on a remix for Massive Attack - as a fan from youth, I'm making sure I do as good a job as possible! I'm also involved with some exciting collaborations with some well known artists - but I've got to keep it under wraps for the moment...

Anything else you want to tell us about?
Nothing much else to say other than I'm feeling excited and positive about new music in general - I think 2010 will be a good year for new progressions in dubstep and for the Bristol end of the sound too.
