After the success of Hospital Records' Sick Music compilations, sister label, Med School, is all set to follow suit with a compilation of its own. New Blood 010 is due out on 15th March 2010, and showcases that classic liquid-hype Hospital style, with a few dynamic twists along the way.
As with all our releases, we try to set trends rather than follow them," said Med School's Ashley Howard, "but our primary aim is to put out quality music, whether it's for the dancefloor, or simply to listen to on your iPod.
"In some ways you could say this is the Med School equivalent of Sick Music," he admitted, "except the focus is much more on up-and-coming artists with a palette of deeper, more experimental sounds. I suppose there is a bit more freedom on Med School than there is on Hospital, and the tracks on New Blood 010 just seemed to hit the right note.
"There's a whole host of new producers out there, who are making high quality music that never gets the exposure it deserves, and hopefully we can help provide that."
Once the compilation drops, the work doesn't stop for the Med School team, as Ashley went on to explain:
"Following New Blood 010 we've got an EP due out featuring five stunning remixes of tunes from Clear Your Mind, the debut album by Bop. There's drum & bass remixes from the likes of Blu Mar Ten, Lynx and Subwave, a dubstep remix by Unquote, and a nice Amen roller from Thinnen.
"It would also be nice to venture back in to club-land again," he hinted, "we've hosted rooms at Fabric, Digital Brighton and Scala, but we'll have to wait and see on that front."
