Modern Urban Jazz to release new LP
For months now, Modern Urban Jazz bosses Tony Justice and Scott Metro have been working on a new LP entitled 839, scheduled for release between late March and early April.
The duo are certainly keeping themselves busy, and have started new their Justice//Metro Podcast, available through modernurbanjazz.com.
Both shared their thoughts with us on what the future holds for Modern Urban Jazz.
"We've always wanted to work towards an LP project," Stated Tony, "we sat down together and started a couple of collaborations, and realized we were both coming at it from the same angle.
" Even if we weren't in the same place, we'd use AIM to send tunes to one another, and experiment on the move."
"We don t like to conform to normality," added Scott, "839 is a collection of all our ideas, be they spontaneous, random or even accidental.
"The sound goes across genres, some tracks are techy, minimal and dark, but others light and ambient, which we feel makes the album well worth a listen."
The pair haven't just been focussing on getting their own productions heard, the Justice//Metro Podcasts exist to promote artists, sounds and genres outside the drum & bass spectrum.
"The Podcasts are a bi-product of the new website," said Scott, "it's a great way of not only showcasing our tunes, but also those of other artists.
We didn't want to be restricted to just drum & bass, so it promotes hip-hop, dubstep, techno, house, whatever we're feeling at the time really. The Podcasts have already gained quite a following," Tony enthused.
"I guess that's because it's good quality, different drum & bass music. It was started as a platform to get other artists heard, as well as give people an idea of what Modern Urban Jazz is all about.
"We'll be doing a special Podcast to tie in with the release of 839, with some mini-mixes from Muted, Momentum and Diamond Eye, who all collaborated on tracks for the LP."
The Justice/Metro podcasts are available from www.modernurbanjazz.com, and the eagerly anticipated 839 LP is due out between late March and early April.
