 Mala In Cuba

Dubstep originator Mala will bring his Cuba Live show to UK shores for the first time this weekend, performing alongside the likes of Gilles Peterson, Quest & Silkie and Moritz Von Oswald at Brixton Electric on Saturday 17th November.

As one half of production duo Digital Mystikz and one of three brains behind the legendary DMZ nights and label, Mala is truly a powerhouse of the UK scene. The deep, textured and emotive qualities of his productions have always put him in a category of his own, with every release almost guaranteed to achieve classic status. Even as dubstep has saturated in certain corners, his work has remained of an impeccable standard throughout, constantly bringing something fresh and new to the music he clearly loves to craft.

Never one to sit still and simply enjoy the fruits of his labours, this year's Mala In Cuba album for Gilles Peterson's Brownswood imprint fused music from the land of sun, cigars and socialism with Mala's own brand of brooding bass. The result? A classic long player that should take pride of place in any music fan's collection.

With a show that promises a full live band and, of course, a whole lot of bass, this one looks set to be big.
