Please introduce yourself...
I'm Tes La Rok, a dubstep producer / DJ and Noppa and Soul Lion Dubs label manager. I'm also a dubstep event organizer, I run Finnish dubstep forum (www.stepahead.fi) and I do my radio show on Finnish radio station Basso Radio fortnightly with my mate Desto.
What have been your highlights of 2009?
Getting a distribution deal with ST Holdings for my Noppa Recordings label was essential. Also being able to push new artists like Desto into to scene. My second tour to Australia and New Zealand was pretty sick too!
What have been your highlights of the decade and how have things changed over the last ten years?
My DNB album in 2005 won an Estonian Music Award for best album of the year. It was pretty special moment. It was also my last DNB release to date under the Dice moniker. After that I felt I had time to move on and, like it was meant to be, I discovered dubstep and I got the same sick vibes that I once loved in jungle music!
I decided to start all over again, so I created new alias and kept my DNB history hidden! Then, in 2006, I signed my first dubstep 12" to UK label Baredubs and that was it! Since then it's been just a blessing. Best years of my life, easily. Met so many new friends, music lovers and good people all over the world.
What have you been doing recently?
Last year or so I've been working on my dubstep album which is nearly there. Also running my labels and releasing new interesting music such as the forthcoming Desto EP on Noppa.
Which artists should we look out for in 2010?
Desto, Late, Khid, Nonperson and Clouds are making moves. Not forgetting Joker, Brackles, Seven... Too many to mention!
What are your plans for 2010?
My album!! And then touring and DJing. I've got an American tour coming up in January. I'm really excited about it, 17 cities!
What are you most looking forward to in 2010?
Getting my album out. Signing more wicked artists and rockin' this planet earth!!
