Sappo

Please introduce yourself...
DJ Sappo, Advisory Records (DJ/producer /label owner).

What have been the highlights of 2009 for you?
The strong emergence of new / exciting artists and good strong dnb again, it was in a little dip the year before.

What have been the highlights of the decade for you?
For me establishing my label Advisory again towards the end of the decade, and being part of a great team at the BBC when 1Xtra started.

How have things changed for you over the last ten years?

I suppose I'm a veteran now but younger than most! I'm established as a name DJ and producer now, although production has been slow the last couple of years due to DJing! That will change... it has definitely been a long road but worth it and ten years has flown by! I hope the next ten are slower!

What have you been doing recently?
Recently I've been in the studio working hard at getting together a first full Advisory LP. I started it in 1999 so it's gonna be a ten years in the game album for sure! A bit like the Technique LP, after ten years as a label and still surviving in these times you have to do something a bit special! It's going to be a half fresh Sappo and fresh remix LP featuring big / up-and-coming names such as Serum, Dawn Raid and Connecta .

Which artists should we look out for in 2010?
Serum is on a roll right now, he's been there longer than most people know, I've been bigging his stuff up for years but his time's coming in 2010. Also watch out for Dawn Raid from manchester, G13 Records, Ruthless Kombo, S-Man and Generator (DNK and Connecta).

What are your plans for 2010?

Apart from the LP look out for a return to some kind of broadcasting.

What are you most looking forward to in 2010?
Even more great dnb, a World Cup summer (an England final!!), festivals and a holiday (I've not had one since 2002!!!)

Give us a top 5
