Matt Shadetek

Please introduce yourself...
I'm Matt Shadetek, a producer and DJ born and raised in NYC. I run Dutty Artz along with DJ /Rupture and we have a new mix album in stores now called Solar Life Raft and an album with Jahdan Blakkamoore called Buzzrock Warrior.

What have been the highlights of 2009 for you?
The birth of my son Archie on Feb. 6th, the birthday of Bob Marley and Ronald Reagan. Also performing at the American Museum of Natural History, I used to go there as a kid.

What have been the highlights of the decade for you?
Realizing a personal goal of releasing a record on Warp Records, living in Berlin for three years and being able to live off of my music.

How have things changed for you over the last ten years?
I've gone through a lot of stylistic evolutions musically, become a grown up and learned to change diapers.

What have you been doing recently?
Travelling with DJ/Rupture to promote Solar Life Raft, making weird house music and enjoying DJing more after getting bored and not having fun with it for a while.

Which artists should we look out for in 2010?
Uproot Andy, Ricky Blaze, KG and Stagga.

What are your plans for 2010?

I'm planning a 12" EP on The Agriculture along with my debut solo album Flowers on Dutty Artz.

What are you most looking forward to in 2010?
In 2010 I'm most looking forward to having some time to get back in the studio and make some new music.
