Please introduce yourself...
Tony Justice, Modern Urban Jazz(er)...
What have been the highlights of 2009 for you?
The Modernists CD (MJAZZ) and a year of quality / hybrid music within the drum & bass / crossover scene e.g. Nonplus and Ramadanman getting on the Organiser Spectrasoul remix.
What have been the highlights of the decade for you?
The rise of quality /diversity again within the d&b scene, long may it continue.
How have things changed for you over the last ten years?
I guess at the turn of the decade experimenting was becoming frowned upon and the formulaic became the norm, so I became a bit disillusioned, but now being different seems to have back round again so my interest has become piqued once again.
What have you been doing recently?
Working on my MJAZZ label, I launched the Constructed Works vinyl series and the Modernist LP series, the MPODs on the Modern Urban Jazz website, collabs with Metro, MoMenTuM, Invincible, Diamond EyE, Chris Inp and working / collating some remixes for Justice - Aquisse 15 year remix project next year.
Which artists should we look out for in 2010?
Diamond EyE, Control Remote, Metro.
What are your plans for 2010?
As I mentioned the Aquisse project, Justice / Metro LP and hopefully some works on the Modern Dub label.
What are you most looking forward to in 2010?
More creativity and boundary pushing.
