Fanu

Please introduce yourself briefly...
I'm Fanu, a downbeat and jungle artist from Helsinki, Finland. I run my own label Lightless Records and DJ internationally on a monthly basis.

What have been the highlights of 2009 for you?
Trisector, an artist recording for Med School, became my flatmate... mad fun all the way! In terms of my own doings, doing my American tour for 2009 was a big thing, and graduating from university was dope!

What have been the highlights of the decade for you?
The digital music revolution. It's a double-edged sword, but in many ways, I've loved it all the way, pretty much!

How have things changed for you over the last ten years?
In '99, I was recording Finnish dnb radio shows on cassette tape, and these days I'm downloading stuff from and uploading stuff onto the net... nuff said!

What have you been doing recently?
Working on my live material! I'm planning to take a live show on the road, using Ableton Live. Loads of downbeat... maybe some dnb, too.

Which artists should we look out for in 2010?
Seba, Paradox, Fracture & Neptune, Macc, Dak, Trisector, Martsman, to mention a few!

What are your plans for 2010?
My live project will most definitely result in a new album. Not sure if I want to release it in 2010 – as I released my last album, Homefree in summer 2009 – but it's definitely coming! Hopefully a few singles from other artists will see the light of the day on Lightless in 2010!

What are you most looking forward to in 2010?
Becoming dirty thirty in March!

Give us a top 5

  2. On toast with cheese
  3. On apple slices
  4. On banana
  5. Big spoonfuls straight from the jar!
