They always say bad things happen in threes and that certainly seems to be the case with venues in London at the moment.

On February 18th came the news that Ministry of Sound is under threat of closure. The future of the venue has been put in doubt following a planning application by property developer Oakmayne.

The company has submitted plans for a residential building on the site of the old Eileen House, which, if built, would sit opposite the Ministry of Sound building and could pose a significant threat to the club's entertainment license.

Ministry of Sound are fighting these plans vigourously of course and has launched a petition to safeguard the future of the venue. Those wishing to show their support can sign the petition.

Then came the news that the police are trying to shut down Plastic People. Home to events like Medium and FWD>>, the police are trying to take their license away for prevention of public nuisance and prevention of crime anti disorder. Plastic People have until March 11th to appeal.

Finally, the capital's biggest club, seOne, ceased trading on 22nd February. In a statement the club's Designated Premises Supervisor, Marcus Kay, said: "It is with great sadness, that I must inform you that 'seOne London' ceased trading on Monday Afternoon, 22nd February 2010.

"After eight long, hard and exciting years, seOne London has fallen victim to the recession and hard times felt in nightclubs all over the UK. I would like to thank all the promoters, DJs, clubbers, staff, suppliers and anyone who has worked and partied in these now Legendary railway arches. seOne London 2002 – 2010."
