Kung Guest Mix

25 Sep 2012

If you are reaching to the Kmag night at Cafe 1001 in October, you can bear witness to Kung. With forthcoming material on Rise Audio, we thought it was about time we got some knowledge from him. He also has provided us with a guest mix, so make sure you check that out below.

Hi Kung, how are you? Let us know about your musical wanderings so far, and tell us about some of your previous releases.

Yo! I'm good thanks! I've been making music since I was a child, in my home town Granada, Spain. Currently focusing on drum & bass, I have had past releases on labels such as Ammunition, C2D, Citrus and my newest track 'Misuse' has just been signed to Rise Audio.

My latest releases out there are 'Brainsmoke' and a collab with Mefjus called 'Exhale' both of these tracks were released on Citrus earlier this year. Oh, and I've done a few dubstep releases as well...

Your sound brings something new to d&b - how do you come up with the vibe you bring to the new release?

I really do not know how it happened ... I just thought I'd make a nice melody with some dirty and nasty sounds. Making music is fun because you can really do whatever you want, not just what you know works.

I also want to be different, I'm always looking for new sounds, but always keeping the funk.

Tell us about some of the other material you've got forthcoming on Rise Audio.

I can't say too much... Right now I'm working on several exciting new projects, a few things with a darker vibe than Misuse. There will be more news soon.

What have you included on the mix you've prepared for us?

I have included some Kung tracks both released and unreleased, along with other tracks I like from Billain, Mefjus, L 33, Aeph, on labels such as Critical, Rise Audio, Dispatch and Citrus.

How about live? Where are some of the places people can catch you playing?

I have two gigs in London incoming, one of them will be the next Kmag / Rise Audio event at Cafe 1001 and the other is still being confirmed.

I also frequently play gigs across Spain, and I am currently available for DJ bookings worldwide - contact: events@riseaudio.co.uk
