Delta9 Recordings' '27' compilation is dropping on the 9th July, and will be available digitally, as well as on a CD package. We found out more from the label about their evolution, progression and ideas for drum & bass releases.
Tell us a little more about the new label – how did it come about?
Delta9 Recordings was born after 9 years promoting drum&bass music around North Italy.
During those years we got in contact with many talented producers with unreleased tunes which we thought deserved a proper release. The label is also a natural step after years of promotion, a step which we think will keep the three members of our group even more united.
Who is involved in running the label?
It's mainly the Delta9 crew aka Echonic, Noya and Ronka. We are all from Bergamo, Italy but Echonic is living in Berlin, Germany.
What music are you releasing, and why?
We will be releasing drum & bass music but we don’t want to focus on a specific subgenre. Having spent lot of time listening to music and djing together gave us a common vision but each one of us has a slight different taste and approach to d&b.
When listening to a track we try to answer the question “Would I play this track in my sets?” If the answer is “yes” and the quality of the production is good then that song is a good candidate for a release.
Running a label is a good way to get in touch with producers all around the world and with our label we want, when possible, to give the possibility to the artists to come and present the release during a live showcase. We think it’s a good way to promote both the artist and the label.
I understand that you have a compilation album set to drop very soon. Tell us about this.
In the compilation we gathered music from both established artists like Acid Lab, or Budoka, and new breed producers like Am:x, Future Roots and more. The title of the release is "27", which is a mystical number and is related to 9 in many ways.
This compilation has a common dark footprint but it ranges from tracks with a more oldskool techstep flavor like Acid Lab’s “Hyperion” and “Chronometry” or Echonic’s “Glow Worm”, the minimalism of Neve and Future Roots and the more futuristic vibe of Budoka and Am:X. This release is a good synthesis of our musical vision.
We also printed 250 limited edition cds, which are available for purchase at a very special price of 10 euro, shipping costs included, on our website. The release will also be available for download on the 9th July on all main music portals.

What are some of the label's other upcoming releases and artists?
Next release will be from First Line Squad, an Italian trio. Then we’ll have more tunes from Am:x, and more from some of the up and coming Italian producers scene, and more not-yet-signed to any label artists.
We use Soundcloud as the main way to scout for newcomers and talented producers and welcome people who send demo to our page or mail.
You also have a sideline in promoting parties. How long have you been doing that and how is it going?
We started promoting d&b parties in 2003. After a couple of years we bought ourself a sound system and started to roll illegal parties in the bush or in left over industrial areas around north Italy. We are proud to have spread this kind of music in an area where at the time existed only house, techno or gabber parties. At the moment we organize a big party every 2-3 months in an occupied ex-industry nearby Bergamo, with a huge soundsystem, which is our priority when making parties.
In this venue in the past we invited great producers like Audio, Allied, Cooh, Jade, Mefjus and Maztek to play and met many Italian d&b crews .
Our parties always have about 300-400 people attending and that’s a good result considering that our city is not so big and the drum&bass scene is still considered in a bit underground in Italy
