Crowd at Herbal

East London's famous Herbal venue has just shut its doors for good. At this stage the reasons for its closure are unclear but when you visit their website there is the following statement:

"Due to unfortunate circumstances Herbal nightclub is no longer trading. Thanks to all that have supported us throughout the great years we have had here. The IC3 birthday party event on October 8th has moved to the Den and Centro in central London (ex End Club)."

Herbal closed its door for a few weeks in July 2007 when its license lapsed due to a misunderstanding with Hackney Council regarding license law but this time it appears as if the closure is more permanent.

Shy FX commented on his Twitter page: "So Herbal has been shutdown for good... have had some fun times there :( "

The venue has been home to many famous drum & bass events over the years like Hospitality and Grace and was the current home to Def:inition, Therapy and many others. Bridge from Def:inition commented:

"As both a promoter and a party-goer it is fair to say that I have enjoyed some great nights there over the years. Herbal has been one of the few core clubs to actively encourage D&B nights for nearly a decade, so it's shame that another reputable venue is lost to the central London scene and, more importantly, one of the few of its size that understood the culture of the music and the people that come with it.

"We have had to cancel our night scheduled for the 23rd October and are currently looking for a new venue to use for future Def:inition jungle specials, but hope to secure this in the near future with a short list already being narrowed down as we speak."
