If you want to submit an unsigned track for consideration (drum & bass, hip hop, breaks or dubstep) you need to go to our Knowledge Demos Group on Soundcloud. Simply upload a tune and we'll check it out.
Every week we'll pick a winner and profile the producer behind the winning track. The best track of the month will win the special accolade of making it onto our monthly podcast.
This week's winner is K.T.SHO from Long Beach, California, USA with his track Party Train (Ayo).
Please introduce yourself...
Hello all, they call me K.T.SHO.
How long have you been making music?
Since I was 12 I've been songwriting and MCing, I started producing tracks last year.
What styles of music do you make?
Hip hop / Christian based, but I've done many other genres including soul, pop, and alternative... and I plan on reaching out more in future tracks I create.
How would you describe your music?
A unique blend of smooth chords, infectious drum patterns laced with a healthy dose of lyrical content.
Tell us more about your winning track...
HA-HA.... AYOOOO!!! Well, Party Train (Ayo) is inspired from my party-going experiences. Getting out there and having fun basically, I wanted to capture the essence of that in this track... from its uptempo hard hitting kick, to the smooth bass and its trademark train whistle it's a great song to play on any occasion to get people out of that "wall flower" mode you sometimes see at events. I touch on that spreading epidemic in the song as well. It's a great song to dance, boogie, and or groove to.
Which track by any artist do you wish you'd made and why?
The Cool Kids - Hammer Brothers - it's so infectious and the arrangements of the chords are so dope I would be proud to take credit for it... but kudos to Chuck Inglish & Don Cannon.
What are you currently working on?
I'm coming out with a mixtape, it's going to be a two part compilation featuring The One They Wanted You To H(Ear) and They One They Didn't Want You To H(Ear).
Where can people hear more of your music?
The best place to hear more is at my MySpace and to download those songs go to www.reverbnation.com/ktmoneylol. Also for the people who sign up as fans you receive incentives such as exclusive tracks and updates the general public doesn't receive, so if you want more of K.T.SHO, I encourage you to sign up.
What's the next challenge for you?
Establishing some avenues of getting my music out in the public airwaves, it's coming though, believe me when I say that.
What are you most looking forward to in 2010?
A fresh start, a rejuvenation to brush off past shortcomings and bring the knowledge learned from those failures and make the necessary adjustments in the planning process for the new year, progressively improving my craft.
Anything else you'd like to tell us about?
I want to take time out to thank Knowledge for this interview... I believe knowledge is the key to unlimited possibilities. I want to give a shout out to my company (Space Band Productions)... new website coming soon. Check out my brothers, they make music as well, DBC (Driven By Christ)... you won't be disappointed.
