Fracture & Neptune are best known for their consistent quality drum & bass releases on imprints like Bassbin, Droppin' Science, Med School, and Inperspective. They're now launching their own label, Astrophonica, so we tracked them down to get the lowdown on it.
Why have you set the label up?
We've been releasing music on various labels for years now and decided that we wanted our own. Something that we could be responsible for the branding, marketing and running of. With your own label you can do it exactly how you want to. It's good to have full control of your music and release schedules. It's primarily going to be a d&b label but it gives us a platform to be able to do other stuff. We'll be releasing on both vinyl and digital.
Who is involved with running it?
Besides the two of us we also have Fracture's brother Harry Fieber and designer Nick Duggins doing the amazing art for the label.
Which artists are going to release on it?
At the moment the label will be exclusively for our own music but that's not a rule. We're sure there'll be some collabs with old friends at some point, maybe some remixes. But it will be mainly for us.
Forthcoming releases?
First up is the long awaited 'Clissold' / 'Killerwhat' which will be distributed by ST Holdings and will be released in mid September. We really wanted to have these tunes released so it seemed fit to kick the label off with them. Then there will be 'Hull Breach' and 'Tape Fog' on 002 and we'll announce 003 shortly.
