Steve Spacek is a multi talented vocalist / producer who makes a hybrid of soul, funk and hip hop that sounds like it comes from the future. Over the years he's worked under a multitude of different guises; the latest one is Space Invadas with Katalyst and their debut album Soul Fi will be out in March. He's also currently working on a project for Warp called Africa Hi-Tek with Mark Pritchard aka Harmonic 313.
Back in 2007 he made a solo album under the name of Black Pocket that his brother dBridge wanted to release on his Exit imprint. dBridge has since released three Black Pocket EPs but the album still remains unreleased. Until now that is.
dBridge recently confirmed that Exit is finally ready to release the album. "It's been put back for various reasons, but we're finally ready to release it," says dBridge. "I OKed the CD artwork the other day and I'm going to master the vinyl this week. As soon as I get the masters back then I'm ready to go so it should be out in a month or so."
dBridge and Steve have worked on tracks together in the past, so can we expect to see anything from them again soon? "He's in Australia so I hardly ever get to see him," reveals dBridge. "When he's over I'd like to get something going though."
