Cyrus Launches Another Label

Dubstep producer Cyrus on why he's another new label, what's coming on his other imprint and his new album. Plus! Download his latest podcast.

Tell us more about the releases coming on your new label Origin Audio...
001 is available now and features two collaborations from myself and label partner Tunnidge. We have signed four amazing new artists that are bringing something totally unique to what you hear being released at the moment.

002 is due for release around June and will feature two tracks from Leeds based producer Commodo. All releases will have full artwork on the sleeve which is designed by Tunnidge, who also does the artwork for Deep Medi as well as a number of others. Later releases will be announced nearer the time on

Why have you decided to start your own label?
This is actually my second label but myself and Tunndige decided to start another label to give us an outlet for some of the amazing tracks we've been sent over the last year or so. We wanted to start a label that pushed, to us, what dubstep is all about. Sub driven music. We felt a lot of this has been lost over the last year or two and some great music has been overlooked in favour of the more tear-out side of the sound.

What do you have coming out next on other labels?
I have some big things in the pipeline but I've been sworn to secrecy. I can say that I have releases forthcoming on Deep Medi, Tectonic and my other imprint Random Trio.

What are you currently working on in the studio?
I'm currently working on projects for my album. Everything else has taken second place for the time being. I have a track I started last summer and haven't opened since that I would like to get finished though. It would be a perfect tune for the summer. It's different to what I usually write and more on a funky house tip but I played it to a few people and the response was a lot better then I expected.

Done any remixes recently?

Nothing high profile as such but I've recently done one for a guy called Roland from the States. This is probably my favourite remix to date actually. The track is called Clunka and should be available by the end of April. I started remixing a Jack Sparrow track but this has been put on hold for a short while.

What can you tell us about the new album you're working on?
It's still in the writing stages at the moment. I'm just getting a bunch of ideas together before going through the elimination process. My first album From The Shadows did really well so I'm feeling the pressure on delivering with this second one.

Anything else you want to tell us about?
My Random Trio imprint is back up and running after a short break from the Violate release on 005 back in December 2008. The label has been running since 2003 but has often been held back due to other release commitments hence the low output. RTP006 will be available by the end of April and 007 mid summer.
