Electro productions on breakbeat drum patterns, enhanced by urban vocals, this is the unique sound of Beat Assassins. Imagine taking that sound, creating four exciting tracks and delivering the parts to be remixed by some of the most exciting new producers in selected dance genres. Well, this is precisely what Beat Assassins have done and the end result is the Urban Electro Project (UEP).
UEP is a four-part series of Beat Assassins tracks plus remixes from the Assassins' favourite producers within the genres of breakbeat, bassline house, drum & bass and fidget house. It is a cross-pollination of new talent unified by one concept; Beat Assassins' urban electro style.
Part 1, 'Boom Style' featuring the vocals of Sweetie Irie, is out now and comes with a house remix by New York's rising star AC Slater. Fidget house producer Calvertron remixes part two, 'Direct Hit VIP', while award-winning breakbeat act NAPT add their N-funk twist to 'Put Em Up' (part three) and fresh drum & bass talent Sigma add b-line rollers to 'Scarface' to complete the series.
Photographer James Hacker has also created an innovative artwork concept for the record sleeves. Neon light trails are photographed with a slow shutter speed to create geometric patterns and futuristic illusions that are reworked into striking ethereal images.
