Bass-musicians Baobinga & ID have announced a new pay-what-you-want album to be released in late February. It will be called Bass-music Sessions and typically maintains the multi-genre style adopted by the duo in recent years.
Originality is clearly a key factor behind the production, as strong elements of dubstep go hand in hand with house, breaks, hip-hop and powerful hints of drum & bass, to create the super-genre the pair refer to, as bass music.
The way the 10-track album can be found and purchased marks the dawning of a new era in the way music is consumed, and highlights the way in which the record label is becoming something of a promotion tool, rather than a necessity.
Bass-music Sessions will be released using a combination of the duo's very successful blog and new website Bandcamp. Their blog has over 30,000 monthly readers, restricting the need for a label's involvement.
In a further twist of originality, the forthcoming album will not have a price; it will simply provide an opportunity to donate to charity, with all proceeds going straight to the Dovehouse Peace Hospice in Hull.
Fresh ideas both within, and surrounding the album, ensure that Bass-music Sessions will be one step ahead when it drops next month, in more ways than one.
