San Francisco's Bachelors of Science are to release the follow-up to their 2008 debut Science Fiction on April 12. Entitled Warehouse Dayz it's coming out on Horizons Music.
Bachelors of Science are Phil "Rene" - a producer and classically trained musician born in New Zealand and raised in the UK - and Chris Doe - also from the UK, previously known for playing the hardcore and early jungle scene from 1991 - 1995.
Warehouse Dayz represents a significant direction change for the duo. "We're branching out beyond DnB while still being true to our roots," says Rene.
For their sophomore outing they have raised the bar as an electronic music act, dipping into a wealth of seemingly disparate influences – from Lemon Jelly, Portishead, LTJ Bukem, High Contrast, Daft Punk, Mylo and the Prodigy to Debussy, Frank Sinatra and Hunter S. Thompson - and combining these various styles to edge outwards of the genre they're best known for.
From the electro influenced Lost Inside, via the cheeky reggae vibes of Red Stripe, the drum & bass ballad Can't Let Go, and the devastating RipSaw to the Burial tinged Bombay Sapphire, the Lindstrom inflected space-disco sounds of Match Point and the epic Amen centred The Rush, the Bachelors of Science consistently surprise with a diverse palette of sounds, ensuring things never get stale.
They've also been working on a "pretty special live experience" and plan to tour soon so look out for that.
