AI And Command Strange On Metalheadz

AI

For the next few months, expect a series of releases from Artificial Intelligence. In the first tracks of original material since the Stand Alone album of 2010, Glenn and Gambit have combined forces with Command Strange for Mad One and Broken Ground for Metalheadz Platinum. We got the full rundown from AI.

Guys – the new single is coming out imminently. You’ve teamed up with Command Strange, and also Jamakabi – tell us about how the collab came about, and how you worked on the tracks.

Command Strange tracks have been a pivotal part of our DJ set over the last 2 years. We then decided to release some of his music on our Integral Records imprint. Earlier this year we worked on a collaboration project which has led to 3 finished tracks. With Alex living in Kazakhstan at the time, this was all done back and forth via the web which is very different to what we are normally used to but interesting at the same time and it all came together nicely.

I sent the tracks originally to Goldie and Metalheadz who were quick to push the collaboration forward. They hooked us up with Jamakabi (formerly from Roll Deep) He came down with the goods to one of our studios at Delicious Digital and the rest is history.

I understand that the single forms the first in a series of projects for AI – tell us more about your plans.

We have a bunch of releases and projects that are about to drop. The Platinum 12” is dropping this week. We have a follow up 12” and album sampler on Metalheadz including vocal collabs with Steo and DRS.

We have also finished a project with Ayah Marar which UKF are releasing and is also part of her forthcoming album.

On top of this we have given a 12 to V which is dropping at the end of the year which includes a collab with Dan Bowskill who we worked on the Roots Manuva Chase mix with.

We are also finalizing something with Friction for Shogun Audio and have been liaising with Andy at Ram over the last months and about to remix Delilah’s next single- Watch this space.

You're going to be working with different labels. Why?

We all decided that it's best to branch out for the next year as we have been working on various productions with our new studio set up which cover a range of different styles. We are then looking to lock down with the right label at some stage next year for the bigger picture going forward.

Are you working on more hook ups/collabs?

Yes currently with Steo and DRS. Also started vibes with D Bridge which we look to push forward soon.

This’ll mark the first original material since your 2010 album – why have you taken the time out from releasing tracks, and what have you been doing?

We have been writing more music than ever with getting used to our new extended studio set up. We just wanted a decent gap between the album and the next chapter and we feel which are ready now.

Are there plans for a follow up to Stand Alone?

Most definitely. That's something we will be working towards. It will be very different but in our own unique way.
