Ans

Hailing from the Czech Republic, Ans was spotted by Tony Thorpe (The Moody Boyz) while DJing in Prague and went onto release the first single on Tony's Studio Rockers label. He's now making his return to Studio Rockers to become the first artist to earn a second release. Everyday Bullshit / Always Sharp / Holki is out now on as a digital download with the vinyl release mid January.

The label describes Everyday Bullshit as "deep, dark & brooding". Would you agree with this?
I don't think it's deep and dark. Maybe melancholic due to melody, but that neurotic reverse synth brings energy that isn't deep for me. It sounds bit like sad story about a broken printer.

Always Sharp is a little more fidgety and edgy and Holki is more melodic and airy. Do you often try to experiment with what you do or are you more about creating your own, distinctive sound?
I think I have my own sound, but I like different moods, so sometimes it sounds more dubby, sometimes more techno. I like some electro and breaks stuff, and I try to use all these influences in my music.

How was 2009 for you?
It was all about music and parties, so I must say sorry to my liver! No, seriously, it was pretty productive. I made a lot of tracks and also we released some great stuff from up-and-coming Czech and Slovak producers on our digital label Owntempo Recordings. And in personal life I'm absolutely happy.

What is the scene like in Prague at the moment?

Dubstep has a solid position on the music scene in Prague. We had a lot of big names and guys that manage dubstep events have big plans for 2010, so check out Prague on the map! Cross Club especially is great place with unique design and good music every time.

Who else in the dubstep scene would you like to work with?
I'm bit of a loner when it comes to production, so I can't say, but in remixing I'm ready for everything!

Any big plans for 2010?
I'm working on new tracks for Owntempo and Case Records, another Czech based digital label, and also on few remixes for my mates. I hope that will be a chance for new cooperation with Studio Rockers, of course.
