Xone:DB2 Mixer Review

Allen & Heath Xone DB2 mixer

Pioneers of the mixer market, Allen & Heath, released this sleek edition to the Xone series earlier this year; the Xone:DB2 professional DJ mixer.

The Xone:DB2 professional DJ mixer is the little sister product of the previous model, the DB4. The DB2 beautifully boasts a more compact feel for a nicer price, but not sparing on quality. The exceedingly aesthetic aluminium build makes the mixer curiously light in weight.

But as promised, the intricate features and infinite FX libraries prove otherwise.  All of the sliders feel sturdy and secure. So they don't feel as if they're going to break off like many sliders do. It feels incredibly well built and nicely designed, despite being so light. There's a lovely grip to all of the knobs and buttons and they all feel well reinforced and high quality.

The set up of the DB2 was nice and easy. It can be used with analogue decks but it's definitely easier to use as more of a digital mixer. It's all about the FX with Allen & Heath and this mixer is no exception. They continue to maintain the reputable high standard that makes Allen & Heath mixer's so special.

The Xone:DB4 was the first mixer to include the new FX engine and just like its bigger brother, the possibilities with the DB2 FX are endless. Also the layout of the FX panels and the EQ panels on the DB2 was highly favoured in comparison to the layout on the DB4. The position of the panels makes everything really accessible whilst you're mixing.

Overall the DB2 is great value for money. It's not that much less technical than the DB4 and there's loads of powerful effects and its very resourceful. It's got great features for a fantastic price.
