Live music battles are nothing new, ones for MCs and DJs are fairly common, but the new Dead Beat Society Production Battle has a twist as it's a head-to-head competition for producers.
On the night eight producers will take part in a series of heats, with two producers sharing the stage at any one time, each at their own station using a CDJ and a mixer to play their original "tune". Each producer will bring sample free beats to the competition and all compositions must be original and owned by the producer.
The winners of each heat will go through to the next round and the overall winner from each qualifying battle will win £500 and a place in the grand final. The winner of the grand final will be given an opportunity to produce and work with an A-list recording artist.
The first qualifying battle takes place at Cargo in London on Thursday March 29th and is hosted by Shortee Blitz. If you want to compete then go to the Dead Beat Society website to complete an application form and submit your beats. Eight producers will then be selected to compete and notified via email two weeks prior to the event. If you just want to witness the spectacle then it's £6 to get in and doors open at 8pm.
