With a release due out on Warm Communications, an upcoming US tour and a stock pile of amazing releases under his belt, Swedish producer Sebastian Ahrenberg, aka Seba, is still considered one of drum & bass's elite and showing no signs of slowing down in 2010.  

With releases on iconic labels such Metalheadz, Good Looking, Hospital and Soul:R, Seba is no stranger to the spotlight. This time around he teams up with Warm Communications to bring us a two track release featuring two very different sounds. This release proving, yet again, that this producer is not held to any sort of boundaries and just wants to make good music and share it with the world.

"I guess Never Let You Go represents what I'm known for, that deep bassline and a bit trancey chords. This Is Our House is more of an experimental side of me, where I'm trying to get early house music fused with drum & bass."

Working closely with the crew at Warm has been a longstanding and progressive relationship. Seba has been releasing tunes on the label dating back to 2001:

"I did a 12" for them way back in 2001 or 2002. We then lost contact for some time, I think Warm Communications went a bit silent. I then got the opportunity to do a remix for them recently and we decided to make it a 12" with Dangerous Days on the flip.

Over the years we've seen a stellar list of producer and vocalist collaborations from Seba, including the likes of Paradox, Krazy, Robert Manos and Kirsty Hawkshaw, to name a few. With this latest release being a solo project, he's got a few special collaborations coming up worth talking about:

"I got a new collaboration with Paradox coming out soon and a collaboration with Physics from Finland. I'm also waiting for some new recordings from Manos too, so that should be interesting."

Speaking of collaborations, Seba recently put out a tune with fabled vocalist Kirsty Hawkshaw titled The Joy. Working with a seasoned songwriter been a great experience for him, and has opened new doors that weren't open before:

"It feels great to work with her [Hawkshaw]. She's really experienced and done so many different styles of music. She's also introduced me to a lot of musicians that she's been working with."

Aside from putting out music on various labels and working with top artists in the game, Seba also finds time to run his own drum & bass imprint Secret Operations. The label was created as an outlet for his own music initially, and has now grown into something much more than that:

"I started the label in 2001. I had stopped working with Good Looking for some time and had a rough time getting other labels interested in what I was doing, so I started my own label. The label is still a platform for my own music and I also put music out when I think it is something exceptional, or when I have a track and no home for it."

With a heavy list of timeless releases and more to come, it's time Seba took his act on the road and flew across the pond for a tour of the United States. Having toured the States before and hitting major markets such a New York and California to name a few, Seba is looking forward to coming back after a four year hiatus from the US.

"I did a tour in the States with Paradox back in 2006. We went to LA, SF, NY... major cities basically. This time it's pretty much the same as above and some more shows like Pittsburgh, Washington DC, and a few other stops."

Living and working in Sweden, Seba can only go by what he hears in regards to the state of the US drum & bass scene, which is far different from the scene in the UK and Europe. His goal is clear on this trip however, to educate, and open people up to his music.

"I heard it's moving pretty slowly out there [in the US]. I hope that I can get enough people to the clubs and have a good session. I'm there to promote my music and my label, so the more people that show up the better."

With a few forthcoming releases, more remix projects and collaborations what else could this talented master of drum & bass have in store for us?

"I've got a bunch of releases lined up. I just did a Platinum release on Metalheadz. I believe the next one out is a single on 31 Records, and then it's the Warm Communications 12" and a Nu Directions 12". Then I've got a collaboration with Paradox coming out in September, and I just handed in a release for Spearhead Records. I guess it's time for me to do another album. My last one was two years ago."
