2009 has been a massive year for Lynx what with the release of The Raw Truth album. Here he tells about his experiences touring and announces the launch of his own label in 2010.

The Raw Truth was released earlier this year to critical acclaim, including a nomination for Best Album at the Drum & Bass Arena Awards. What have you enjoyed most about the project and what has been the toughest challenge?

It was an honour to be nominated for Best Album. The most enjoyable part of The Raw Truth was being able to collaborate with so many great musicians from very different musical backgrounds. It really helped to seal a much more diverse and mature sound than myself and Kemo could have brought alone. The biggest challenge was to choose which tracks would make the album! There were approximately 40 tracks that were eventually whittled down to the final 15. So there are a lot of great tracks that people still are yet to hear!

As well as DJ sets, you've performed several live showcases for the album, incorporating Kemo plus other guests vocalists including MC DRS, Tali, Vaceo and live guitar from Simon Wiggins. Do have any further plans for live projects in future?

That really depends on future collaborations but it looks very likely. I would love to expand upon what was started with The Raw Truth but it all stems from what music I am writing and who is involved. I have already collaborated on some fresh material with all of the above artists and many more, so I am sure there will be many live showcases in the future.

You recently touched down in Japan and Russia and have travelled everywhere from Hong Kong to South Korea and New Zealand plus all over Europe in 2009. What have been your favourite places to visit so far and is there anywhere you haven't been to yet but would like to reach?

New Zealand is one of my favourite places. I have been three times in the last 18 months and the atmosphere there is always very special. They have a great homegrown scene as well as representing international artists. Other highlights for me have been amazing gigs in Lithuania, Brazil, Japan, Russia, Czech Republic, Germany and France.

Since the album, you've been busy in the studio working on a number of projects including remixes for Hospital and Innerground. Can you tell us more about what's coming up the next few months?

Spring next year will see the launch of my own label: Detail Recordings. I have well over 50 tracks ready to go for the label launch, so once again selecting which tracks will be released is going to be a challenge. The focus is on great music with attention to detail.

The exciting thing about the label is it will open up the chance for other producers to get involved in the writing process. An unfinished track will be uploaded to the website early next year, including parts to the track. Producers will be able to put their own spin on the track, send the parts back will the opportunity to get their results released on the label. Unlike other labels this won't be a remix, artists participating will play a part in the original material that's released.

Further down the line I have plans for mass multi-collaborations where convention will be thrown totally open and we'll see how the musical dust settles... So to all producers, established and up-and-coming: have you got the attention to detail?

Prior to the launch of my label I also have numerous remixes on the way including Marky and S.P.Y's Collie Trippz and Bop's Tears of a Lonely Metaphysician.

You've already worked with a broad range of drum & bass artists including Alix Perez, Nu:Tone, Atlantic Connection and Aaron Jay and clearly enjoying collaborating. Which other artists would you really like to work with in future?

I really enjoy collaborating with all kinds of musicians not just dnb producers. As for who I would like to collaborate with in the future it has to be the quirkier and out of the ordinary the better! It's refreshing and inspiring when others have a totally different take on a track than you. Within dnb it would be great to collaborate with someone like Sub Focus or High Contrast i.e. something quite different to what I am doing, it would certainly be interesting to see what the result would be!
