Malice N Wonderland review

Malice n Wonderland

After just having our ears poisoned by Timbaland's new project Shock Value 2, Malice N Wonderland seems like a breath of fresh air.

But it's clear from the get-go that Snoop Dogg's tenth album is nothing revolutionary.

His last three or four have been overly long and lacking in cohesion, so the cut-down track listing is a good start, but at 38 years of age, the snap of youth is clearly gone for the big boss dog.

It's easy to forgive him, as Malice... never builds itself up as more than the sum of its parts.

This album isn't pretentious and actually contains a few humble lines, like when Snoop says he wants another kid from his wife on Different Languages.

Just don't listen to the song featuring (Snoop Dogg's nephew) Soulja Boy and his auto-tuned dribbling called Pronto.

This is a complete travesty, worth checking out only to satisfy one's morbid curiosity.

The standout banger goes to the Timbaland-produced That's The Homie, which is formulaic but the takes the dirty south gangsta formula as far as it can go.

Malice N Wonderland is certainly no epic failure like 50 Cent's pathetic Before I Self Destruct.

Snoop fans, there might be something here for you.

Malice n Wonderland is released in the UK on 8th December 2009.
