Screwloose is a new dubstep label run by two up-and-coming DJ / producers from: Bristol, LoKo and Statix. We sat down with them to find out more...
Why are you starting a label?
The main reason we decided to set up the label was to try and push young talent. There aren't enough young artists in the dance music scene in our opinion and we wanted to set up a label that would be potentially a stepping stone for artists to move onto bigger and better things. Saying that however there will be the odd one or two artists we offer exclusive deals to as one day we hope to be the "bigger and better" thing in the industry.
What's the meaning behind the name?
The meaning behind the name? Have you heard the music? Seriously, I was just sat at my computer listening to some of the tunes we had planned for release and the whole having a "screw loose" thing just came into my head, then Ross came up with this concept of a crazy animal and it just went from there really.
What's the ethos behind the label?
We've been trying to build a family really. We don't want artists to be scared to send us stuff like most artists are when it comes to sending there tunes out. We will try and help however we can and we really do try and get back to everyone who sends us any music.
Forthcoming releases?
SCREW001: Koan Sound - Akira / Endorphin (Jan 25th)
SCREW002: Statix - Mind Over Matter / Cataract (late Feb/March)
SCREW003: Koan Sound - JumpSuit / Blueberry Pie (April)
SCREW004: Asa & Koan Sound - Hesitation / Coast 2 Coast (June)
SCREW005: LoKo / Statix - Keep Rising / Unknown (August)
Anything else you want to tell us about?
Yeah, make sure you check the MySpace and Facebook pages for updates on our tour and releases, etc. Also, any artists that wants to send us a demo feel free, as we are very friendly and will try and get back to you with feedback. Don't be disheartened though if we don't or it takes a while, we get sent lots of demos and sometimes we miss some. Please make sure you have contact details attached to the tune as we can't get back to you if we don't know who sent us the tune!
