Bop reviews the five drum & bass tunes currently doing it for him the most...

Oak

Sequence 1 & 2

Microfunk.ru
I can't choose my favourite from these two because both tunes are brilliant. Sequence 1 is a light airwalking song that takes the listener beyond the universe and into the cosmic vacuum with only thoughts for company. Sequence 2 is more abstract and sharp, but just as enjoyable. It generates warm feelings and penetrates deep into the most remote areas of your subconscious. Both of these fantastic tracks are available to download absolutely free!

dBridge

Love Hotel / The Dim Light

Exit Records
The new single on Exit Records by the mighty dBridge is pure minimalistic business, but for me it is the flipside that is most exciting. The Dim Light has a raw 808 electronic groove at 170 bpm with an ice cold atmosphere, conjuring associations with retro-futurism, Detroit or a world where machines supplant humanity.

Despot

Texture

Alphacut
Despot are my friends and musical partners who, like me, are also from Saint-Petersburg in Russia. Texture combines the ambience of dub-techno with intricate noise structures and deep swinging drums. Despot have created an amazing emotional image that touches the depths of your soul. This song is part of an EP that is the 17th release on Alphacut Records, available as a strictly limited D.I.Y. edition so don't miss it!

Sunchase

Keyring

Drone Audio
Sunchase's new album Static Nitro is striking in its unique approach to the modern drum & bass sound. Keyring immediately stood out for me because of its dirty hypnotic bass and unusual rhythmic patterns - a characteristic that sets the tone for the entire release. Although there is an obvious departure from the standard sounds used in drum & bass, all the tracks have strong identities and sound cool, not only at home but also on the dancefloor.

Nothing Makes Any Sense (Blu Mar Ten remix)

Med School Music
When I heard the remix for the first time, I couldn't actually remember which tune had been remixed, haha. The guys from Blu Mar Ten used only a couple of basic elements from my track and have created a truly monumental new work, in fact, they have almost rewritten the song with a completely different mood. The epic drums, deep solid bassline and transparent synthesised melodies immerse you in a trance and give you sweet moments of euphoria. Now I would call this song Everything Makes Sense!
