Stilla Audio is a new label showcasing an exciting group of liquid drum and bass producers. With support already from BBC Radio, their first release The Motions EP hit the streets this week. K Mag caught up with Callide to find out more...
How long have you been working on this project?
We set the movement up just over three months ago, and it was a coming together of like-minded people who represent the sound of liquid/soulful music. There are 12 of us in the group made up of producers, DJs, radio presenters, a host MC, a photographer, a designer, and people who are passionate about the music we love. Whilst a number of producers such as myself, Voltage and Decimal Bass do not exclusively write liquid, Stilla Audio is the movement for the projects we run under this sound.
Tell us about how which type of sound you were trying to achieve on the album?
The term ‘Liquid’ is so broad now, we were aiming to encapsulate a wide scope of the spectrum. Our next EP will be programmed for release in the coming weeks and has already seen the support of Radio 1, Netsky and more. We have five excellent producers in the group who have achieved releases on Charge Recordings, Ram Records, 36 Hertz, Mix n Blen and more, and Stilla Audio is our identity for channelling the very best of our own unique blend of Liquid, Deep, and Soulful Drum and Bass Music. We also have some darker rollers on the horizon which will complete the overall sound we are currently representing.
Where is the best place to listen to the new tracks? Home or club?
You can catch us on www.gloucesterfm.comevery Friday from 7-9pm for our radio show, and also on 96.6FM in and around the Gloucester area, the show features guest mixes, features and heaps of new music. The best place to find out what’s new in the Stilla camp is to check out our Facebook page, Stilla Audio. As mentioned we’ve only been running for around three months, however our following is growing daily. We’ll soon be building our own website, complete with artist info, photos, downloads, mixes, merchandise and more. We’ll soon be releasing the details of our next club night, along with our special private members club night which will be exclusive to our facebook fan base.
What was your target audience?
Our target audience is anyone who enjoys good music. We are a big follower the Sun and Bass movement and recently enjoyed seven days of sunshine, music and great vibes! Myself and Ross from our promotions team, recently went over with hundreds of mix and EP mini mix CDs and made sure every artist on the bill, along with a member from each social group received a CD. Whilst walking around Sardinia we heard our CD everywhere, it even made it on to the artist shuttle bus on the day of the Sun and Bass Secret Party.
Do you have any details about upcoming live performances etc?
We’re just in the process of securing a number of residences at various clubs across the Country, and we’ve also recently started our own club nights with the launch party held last week at D-Fly in Cheltenham. If anyone would like to book the collective we are able to host an entire evening with 6 dj’s and a host MC, myself Callide (aka CSS), Voltage (aka NE1), Decimal Bass, Soul Method, Truly Unknown and Virtue, with host MC Impact.
