In recent years New Zealand has time and time again proven itself to be a veritable breeding ground for cutting edge drum & bass talent. Now, its latest export, up-and-coming DJ & producer Teknik seems set to continue this impressive lineage.

Already garnering support from some of the scenes most revered figureheads, Teknik can count Klute, Ed Rush & Optical, Gridlok and Noisia amongst his fans. In interviews, he has referenced the classic albums Wormhole and Inside the Machine as pivotal moments in his dnb education so it's no surprise to hear these influences echoed in his deft minimal arrangements and dirty low slung rollers.  

Teknik has built up an enviable reputation in the southern hemisphere, quickly establishing himself as a headliner in his own right and consistently delivering exciting, high energy sets across his homeland and neighbouring Australia not to mention numerous collaborations with fellow New Zealanders The Upbeats, Trei, Dose and Menace amongst others. Look out for his recent Grotesque / Dick Chainey 12" with Bulletproof and Cern under the moniker Sidechain which is out now on Syndrome

The last few years have seen a string of releases signed to pioneering labels including Renegade Hardware, Project 51 and Soul:R weaving their way into the sets of the A list, plus many more in the pipeline. Particularly exciting is his Hollow Mountain collab with The Upbeats forthcoming on Playaz which is already causing quite a stir amongst clued-in heads.

 

With all this on the cards you can't help but feel that Teknik's star is firmly on the rise.
