It started seven years ago in Austria when a monthly drum & bass club night was not enough. The promoters were into graphics, graffiti and all things cool and urban, so they decided to bring the under-represented parts of it alive in their events. The audiovisual take on music caught people's attention and eventually led to the Urban Art Forms festival being born.
It's been growing steadily over the years and the 2011 edition takes place over three days and five stages with more than 100 electronic acts taking part, including Fat Boy Slim, deadmau5, Simian Mobile Disco, Sub Focus, Noisia, Foreign Beggars, Andy C and Camo & Krooked.
Christian Lakatos, the promoter of UAF, gives an insight into what we should expect from this year's festival:
"This year will be the first time that UAF festival will take place in a different venue. We ran out of capacity the last two years so we decided to go to a bigger area, giving us the opportunity to have more genre dedicated stages. This change also gives us space for more action. We will have five stages and stuff that's completely new like the street art / graffiti lab and the bike and skate park. With more stages, more music, more genres and the urban sports showcases and activities we are very excited about this year's festival."
UAF takes place at Arena Nova Playgrounds, Wiener Neustadt, Austria from 16 - 18 June and weekend tickets will set you back 89 Euros.
