After hosting their successful debut party at The Oak Bar in Wandsworth earlier this year, South London d&b promotions team Siren are taking over Brixton's Plan B nightclub for an Easter special this Friday 2nd April.
Mixing up their line up between established scene players and up-and-coming DJs, head honchos Billy Ultra Ego and Woozie promise a night to be remembered with a carefully selected line up.
The main room headliners on the night are Marcus Intalex and Artificial Intelligence with a supporting cast of: Chris Inperspective, Vapour, Kane, Subterra and Mr Joseph. MCs as follows: System, Blackeye, Deefa and Mekar.
In the Basement, catch the likes of T-Lite and Fatality and Choppah alongside MCs Speach, Rigz and many more.
It's only £8 in advance or £10 on the door before midnight and £12 after. The event runs from 9pm-5am. Look out for special CD giveaways on the night.
We caught up with Billy and Woozie for a quick chat to find out more...
Why are you starting Siren?
We had the idea a few years back, originally for a private boat party but it soon progressed into something bigger. There was a lack of events tailored to suit our taste in London, DJs playing the music they're passionate about instead of mainstream selections. That passion passes through a crowd and makes for a great atmosphere. Our logic suggested others were feeling the same way so we're aiming to provide this.
Where and when will your events take place?
Plan B Brixton has recently been refurbished and is the aptly sophisticated setting for Siren. Events start off quarterly and, hopefully, will be monthly in not too long.
What are the names of the residents?
Chris Inperspective has produced some breathtaking music, he has regular guest slots at several major drum & bass nights, he's a DJ worth his weight in gold for pushing the experimental, innovative side of production through his acclaimed night Technicality and his passion for drum & bass simply oozes from his mixing.
DJ Kane is the heavyweight of Siren, his fierce delivery and ultimately diverse selection wins over a crowd every time without fail, his production has been released on various established labels and he has championed drum & bass across the globe. Kane always guarantees a memorable set which will knock you sideways, be warned!
Mr Joseph is fast becoming a drum & bass household name, not only for his smooth, silky production but also as the founder of Fizzy Beats. In the last few years he's had support from the likes of Bailey, Fabio and Grooverider, Marcus Intalex and LTJ Bukem. Admirably, he recently won the Rene Serato Scratch Live competition at the 2009 Sun & Bass festival in Sardinia.
DJ Jamma is a highly contemporary and cutting edge producer, his breakneck mixing style creates a whirlwind journey of emotion. Running successful nights in the past such as Legends of the Dark Black in Brixton and playing at major nights such as Breakin Science, One Nation as well as various infamous pirate radio stations and parties over the years, he is a true drum & bass soldier.
What are your plans for the future?
Siren aims to put on parties like this one on a regular basis and enhance London's DnB scene. We want to satisfy London's DnB heads, we're debating on how eclectic we want the second room to be.
