Friction

Friction's Shogun Audio isn't just a top-notch label y'know. Their events are also renowned with a regular monthly night in their hometown of Brighton and their session at The End was one of the best residencies until the venue closed in January. Shogun recently returned to London with a new residency, here's what Friction had to say about it when we spoke to him recently...

Why has it taken so long to find a new venue in London?

Since doing our regular events at The End, we searched long and hard to find a venue that would capture the vibe of our beloved End sessions. We wanted to bring something new and exciting that would enable us to return to the capital with a bang. After many months of we finally settled on the Lightbox in Vauxhall, which ticked all the boxes.

Was it important to get a new venue that no one had used before?

At Shogun we always strive to bring something new and different so it was great that we could find a venue that was not already in use by drum & bass promoters

Tell us more about The Lightbox and what people can expect...

The Lightbox stood out to us because it's a central London location and it adds something different to the clubbing experience. Clubbers can expect a spectacular range of light shows and we have brought in additional bass to boost what was already a great sound system.

What have you got in store line-up wise?

For each event you can expect to see all the Shogun artists including Friction, Alix Perez, Icicle and Spectrasoul plus special guests for an exciting and fresh d&b experience.

How regular will these events be?

These events will be running bi-monthly. Our next will be October 17th and December 26th.

How's your night in Brighton going?

Our night in Brighton is going from strength to strength with a sell-out crowd each time. Digital is arguably the best venue in town, and the vibes are always red hot! Our next event is Friction, Chase & Status, Noisia and Alix Perez on the August 30th bank holiday weekend.

Anything else you'd like to tell us about?

Look out for the Break remix of Alix Perez's 'Down The Line', which is out now and has been smashing dancefloors across the globe, and Break's four-track 'Return To The Temple' EP out 21 September.

October will be an exciting month for us with the release of Alix Perez's debut LP titled '1984' This is a potential classic in the making and perfectly showcases Alix versatility across d&b and other genres, make sure you get your copy.

In addition we will soon be launching our new range of merchandise, which will be available to buy at our events and at the new Shogun Audio website, currently in its final stages of construction and will be going live very soon, so watch this space!
