For nearly two years the East Midlands dubstep scene has been taken over by a secret party going by the name of Dub-boro. It originally began in a rundown function room above a pub with 80 attendees, but word soon spread and recently Dub-boro has hosted sold out parties of over 1000 people.
On June 17th their tenth and final party will descend once again upon Loughborough's student epicentre with a line-up featuring Zinc, Jack Beats, Martelo, Joker, Plastician, Jakwob, Dbridge, Instra:mental, Ramadanman and Transit Mafia to make sure they say goodbye with a bang. We spoke to the promoters to find out more...
Please introduce yourself...
Pasquale & Sean, two young whippersnappers from the depths of the East Midlands, Loughborough to be precise. We've been running a series of secret dubstep parties around the area for nearly two years.
Where & when do your events take place?
Our events are all around the East Midlands, so that's Leicester, Loughborough & Nottingham. We always had the idea to just stick to ten parties, nine down over the past two years, one to go!
What's the night all about?
Something to give the kids in Loughborough somewhere to go and launch a fight back against the monotonous student events held week in week out around the town.
How would you describe your crowd?
Very student orientated, with a few locals chucked in for good measure, but everyone there for a good time and let their locks down.
Best memories from a night?
Too many but the Rusko night was pretty special as this was really the first time it hit us that we were making a lot of people happy in this town.
The funniest thing to have happened at one of your events?
DJ Chef necking a whole bottle of rum, and then being told by Skream he was his driver for the night...
Why are you stopping the event?
As we mentioned the plan was always to do ten parties, and finish with a bang. The last thing we want to do is overstay our welcome. If we've inspired a generation of party people in Loughborough to go forth and multiply, then we've done our job.
What are your plans for the future?
Well, we are in talks now to start a new project. That's all your getting!
Anything else you'd like to tell us about?
We would also like to take this opportunity to shamelessly plug our blog tell everyone to add us on facebook: 'Dub-boro'
