Our next Thursday night Kmag Presents event at Cafe 1001 on April 5th is something special. Not only is it free all night but it's Good Friday the day after so no work, but drum & bass imprint Rise Audio are taking over the night and bringing along Cause4Concern, Allied, Future Signal, Kulak and TN1. Label owner Kulak tells us what to expect and reveals some of his favourite club experiences.

Please can you introduce yourself…
Hello, my name is Nick. I have been DJing drum & bass under the name Kulak internationally for the last decade. I own and run Rise Audio which recently released RA003 featuring Cause4Concern and The Sect on limited edition vinyl and digitally.

You're taking over Cafe 1001 on April 5th, tell us about all the DJs on the line-up...
Drum & bass tech masters Cause4Concern will be passing through with their unique style, following their recent vinyl release on Rise Audio, Dead Planet.

Smashing dancefloors worldwide every week, Allied will be bringing their deep and original techno influenced sounds with a bag full of dubs and exclusive remixes.

Future Signal will be in the place, dropping their own brand of tech driven rollers, look out for their track Incognito and collab with Allied, Beta Wave, both out now on Rise Audio.

TN1, owner of the Venom Inc techno dnb label and resident of Rise Audio events throughout the UK will be bringing some new exclusive material.

Finally, I'll be tearing up the place with all the latest Rise Audio dubs currently around at the moment.

What other events have you got lined up?
There is a night in Cambridge coming up called Toxic. Their next event has Maztek and Neonlght at The Junction on March 17th. Toxic will be hosting a Rise Audio label event later this year.

There are also Rise Audio label events happening abroad throughout this year. First up Cause4Concern, The Sect and myself at Bass:Enslavement in Gdansk, Poland on March 31st, and also Cresst in Leuven, Belgium later this year with others still to be confirmed. If you're interested in hosting a Rise Audio event in your city please email [email protected]

What has been your favourite line-up at a night you've had a set at?
There are many unique and talented artists signed to Rise Audio, so this is really hard to decide. If I had to pick one line-up it would probably be Rise Audio in Brighton last year. There was an electric atmosphere and the other artists on the night were Calyx, Billain, Allied, Nocturnal and TN1. It was Billain's debut UK set, so this made the night really special and one that definitely sticks out in my mind.

You've played so many events across the world, where was your favourite set?
There have been a few over the years that I remember really well. The first Therapy Sessions in Bucharest, Romania was pretty cool, the crowd were buzzing and the venue was an awesome old amphitheater.

I played an old skool set before LTJ Bukem at a Locus event in Bristol a few years back. I remember it being really dark inside, the club was full and there was just a really good atmosphere throughout the room, with people dancing and smiling everywhere I looked.

I always love playing Poland too; there is a crew in Gdansk called Bass:Enslavement who always put on a good night. The crowd there are always up for it and know how to party and drink!!

What have you got planned for the future?
Rise Audio have lots of exciting things lined up for this year. We have just signed a new artist from Austria called Mefjus, he has a great style and is the latest addition to the Rise Audio artist roster. His new track, Genetic Drift, will feature on our next release, which will be RA004 a digital EP featuring a three of our other artists including Allied, Billain and Dextems.

We also have other new tracks getting a lot of attention in the pipeline from Allied, Audio, Billain, Dextems and Treo which can currently be heard on dub damaging dance floors worldwide.

The next Rise Audio vinyl release will be RA005, the highly anticipated Total Darkness by Billain.
