Drum & bass label Lockdown are next up to take over our Kmag Presents at Cafe 1001 event. They'll be rolling into town on Friday August 24 and bringing along most of their best artists too. We spoke to label owners Cybin recently to see what they've got in store for us. Remember the night runs from 7pm to midnight and it's FREE to get in all night.

Please introduce Lockdown Recordings and tell us what you're all about...
Lockdown is a D&B label based in the south west UK representing a select group of underground artists and repping a rolling, deep 'n' dark, jungle influenced sound. The label was originally set up by Cybin back in 2003 as a secondary outlet for their music whilst signed to MCGQ's Emcee Recordings but has since grown to become outlet for many other new, up-and-coming artists. Lockdown continues to build a reputation for releasing quality drum & bass music and bringing fresh talent to the forefront of the D&B scene.

How has 2012 been for you so far?
2012 has been a good year so far kicking off with a wicked EP 'Red Clouds' from Trex, who has been getting a lot of interest from other labels after a string of releases with Lockdown. The EP also featured a wicked remix from John Rolodex and a track called Chamber 37 with Ejay which received a lot of airplay form Grooverider.

Then followed up with a wicked EP from new signing Locksem, hailing from Cardiff, which has done really well, reaching number five in the DnBA album download charts and sitting there for over a week alongside releases from some of the biggest labels in D&B, which s a good look for a brand new artist. Ammunition, one of the tracks from the 'My Turn EP EP' was also a featured track with Trackitdown and included by Lung in his recent Med School mix for Fabric Live. So yeah, things are shaping up nicely...

What have you got in store for us release wise for the rest of the year?
We have some sick new music scheduled to drop over the the next few months in 2012, first up is a single from us, Cybin with Dark Soldiers & Come Now, two tracks that we did a while ago but have been getting a good response in both the clubs and from DJs, A-Sides especially, which is dropping on August 6th.

Following that we have a heavy new five-track EP from Trex called Lights Out EP on September 3rd. Then after that we have a new EP from Locksem which is set to be a smasher and a single and EP from Superior Selectionz, fresh off the back of their recent EP with Intrigue Music alongside Ben Soundscape from the Insiders and also a single from Jaybee. So loads to look our for.

Tell us a bit about everyone on the line-up for your date with us at Cafe 1001 and what people can expect from their sets...
Cybin - D&B/Jungle veterans and label founders, have released through Emcee and TOV, Lockdown, Just Noyze, and Lab expect a deep selection, rolling breaks, jungle influences and a dose of trademark darkness.

Trex - with recent releases with Ingredients, Machinist, RUN DNB and Lockdown expect plenty of dubs, stepping darkside beats & bass.

Superior Selectionz - residents at Intrigue in Bristol and releasing through Intrigue Music & Lockdown expect deep rolling breaks and musical vibes.

Locksem & Resonate - residents at Aperture in Cardiff expect slick mixing and rolling deep, techy vibes.

Where else are you DJing in the near future?
You can catch the artists from the line-up regularly at Aperture in Cardiff, Intrigue in Bristol and at the Legends of the Dark Black reunion in Plymouth but we're always looking to do more so any promoters out there that are feeling the beats hit us up please! We are also currently in the process of arranging other label nights for later in the year so watch this space.

Anything else you want to tell us about?
Here's a mix and an interview we did with Grooverider's Radio 1 show last year which is pretty funny, huge thanks to Groove and James for that. The label website is currently being revamped so look out for that and connect with us on our Facebook page.
