Jerona Fruits

The Jerona Fruits crew are back with another Submarine party and they're starting the new year afresh in a brand new venue, Babalou in Brixton. We caught up with them to find out what they have in store for us…

Tell us what Submarine is all about...
The idea behind Submarine is to move our sound away from one particular genre and make the night more focused on the crowd and the vibe at the time, whether it be drum & bass, future garage, soul or hip hop we want there to be a flow and movement to the music that puts our DJ skills to the test.

Babalou is a new venue for you, how come you've moved there and what's it like?
We want our night to progress and Babalou seemed like the perfect next step with a great sound system and plush decor. Our next night is on Friday January 13th and it's totally free to get in all night.

Will this be the start of regular Submarine events at Babalou?
Yes, we'll be at Babalou on the second Friday of each month from now on.

Got any other Submarine events in the near future you can tell us about?
Our last big event was in December with DJ Yoda at Jamm, Brixton. It was an amazing night so will definitely have more planned there soon.

Where else can people see you play in the near future?
Our main focus is our own night at the moment but we'll be doing some of the festivals in the summer.

What's coming on your Jerona Fruits label in the next few months?
The Burbs' In The Rain EP was released last week and their next release will be a track called Face On coming soon.

Got any new years resolutions you can share with us?
A total detox is on the cards :(

What are you looking forward to in 2012?
Will be interesting to see how the night progresses throughout the year and we're looking forward to making more music.

Anything else you'd like to tell us about?
We're currently putting plans together for a new label to coincide with our night, a new outlet for something a bit different. Watch this space!
