Digital Soundboy launch their new London residency on Friday November 19th at London's newest venue, XOYO. We spoke to the label to find out more...

Why have you decided to start a new residency?
Well, we feel like the label has matured to a place where doing events is a natural step to help the profile grow. We've been doing a bi-annual residency with Seb Chew and Leo Greenslade at YoYo for the last year with guests like David Rodigan coming down and thats been a great success. Plus we've started residencies in Leeds, Sheffield and Birmingham with the guys from Bigger Than Barry, in Nottingham with Detonate and Bristol at The Thekla. All those events have been sell-outs and great successes so doing a night in the label's hometown of London is really the next step for us and the brand.

Tell us more about XOYO and why you chose it...
We wanted a new venue and to try and create a different kind of experience. XOYO is in east London which is perfect for us, plus its got two good sized rooms with a quality soundsystem.

What's the night all about?
The label has moved from a traditional d&b imprint, to a vehicle of a wide variety of music that we just feel and want to release. In the last 12 months we've released records from Breakage, Donae'o, Skream, Benga, Redlight, DJ Marky & Spy, Rockwell, Youngman, Attacca Pesante and many more. And it's important to us that the night reflects that eclectic taste and range of music.

What have you got in store line-up wise on the first night?
We're really excited about this line-up. We've got our stable of artists like Shy FX, Breakage, B.Traits, Roses Gabor (from The Gorillaz), Donae'o (doing a live PA), Redlight & Toddla T doing their new Roller Express show plus sets from MJ Cole, Hatcha, Earl Gateshead from Trojan Soundsystem, Seb and Leo from YoYo, a special influences DJ from Get Cape Wear Cape Fly and MCs SP, Stamina, Youngman and Dread. Tickets are £12 in advance.

Anything else you'd like to tell us about?
Yeah, there's lots going on with the label, our next release is actually a free download of Shy FX's 'Raver' single feat. Kano, Donae'o & Roses Gabor, plus remixes from MJ Cole, Breakage, Benny Page and Shy's very own reggae remix. After that we've got lots planned for 2011 including new albums from Shy, Breakage and more, plus singles from Youngman & Benga, Skream, Attacca Pesante and an EP from System. We're also launching our new online store in the coming months and will continue with our residencies in Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham & Bristol. Oh, and don't forget to lock into our DigiBoy radio show on Rinse FM, on the third Wednesday of every month. Phew!
