Every seven days we profile an up-and-coming DJ worthy of your attention, this week, DJ MX.
Please introduce yourself briefly...
My name is MX, I'm currently in Southampton but that may shortly change to Minsk, Belarus. I'm a drum and bass and also Breaks DJ who has been in the scene for around four or five years now. I'm also co-owner and promoter of KRISISDnB alongside DJ NeO.
Tell us about your current projects...
We've been running events in the South Coast of England for two years now and featured some huge names including the likes of Twisted Individual, DJ Pleasure, Sly, Sub Zero (G-Dub), Tantrum Desire, DJ Rusty, The Force, Highroller, Dub Zero, Manga, MC Rhymes, MC Spooka and more. Through our events we have built good relationships with these artists which has helped pave the way to bigger and better things in the future. I've also played at events in Germany, Belarus and Ukraine which has been amazing to see how different countries like to party.
Have you got into production yet?
Production is not something I've tried my hand at yet. I have the utmost admiration for all producers as it's truly a skill I would love to have, but with a busy schedule I haven't got the time (and probably patience) to make anything worth listening to. My love is to give the exposure to those who are good at producing through my radio shows and events I play at.
What's the next challenge for you?
As I said in my introduction, I'm looking to move to Belarus in the near future. They have a fairly healthy drum and bass scene, but it is so different to the UK. There is a real passion for the music over there, and from the events I played there a month ago, they loved hearing something a bit different to what they normally get. I see that as a challenge, and something I want to be a part of.
Anything else you'd like to tell us about?
Keep an eye out for more events on not only the South Coast, but also internationally as well as the KRISISDnB brand has been built to help promote some of the best up-and-coming stars of the future. We show that in every event we do, and that is set to continue for the last part of 2009 and beyond.
