Friday 30th October 2009 sees Soul:ution return to the newly refurbished Band on the Wall venue in Manchester. For the relaunch, residents Marcus Intalex, Calibre & host DRS welcome Lynx & S.P.Y, two of the freshest producers on the scene. Marcus Intalex gives us more details about their return.
How long has it been since the last Soul:ution in Manchester?
I think about three years since we were regular in Manchester. We have done the occasional one-off for other club nights which has been successful and we are obviously still doing regular Soul:ution events with Fabric but we just thought the best plan was to wait until work on Band on the Wall was finished so we could go back home.
Tell us more about the newly refurbished Band On The Wall, what has changed there?
It's been five long years in total for the return of Band On The Wall. I know the people there well and it's been a slog. They had to find funding, which took up most of the time and they extensively researched on how the new Band On The Wall should look. I was in there two weeks ago to see the finished project and I honestly believe it couldn't have been done any better. It retains everything that was special about the place but just looks a whole lot more modern, has quite a bit more space, recording and practice rooms upstairs, huge back stage areas, a new entrance with an extra room and a second bar and, essentially, nice new toilets, ha! It is so tastefully done, I just can't compliment everyone involved enough.
Tell us more about what's in store on your October 30th date?
Well, it's no frills, no bullshit, just a good four hour journey into quality dnb. Guess we may have to drop one or two of the older Soul:ution tunes, test out the sound system, make sure it's as ridiculously good as it was back in the day. I see a few of the older heads are getting more excited than me about it, should be one big party.
Have you got any more nights lined up before the end of the year?
Yeah, at the end of November - in typical Soul:ution style no guests are confirmed yet but the usual residents will definitely be in attendance. In 2010 it's set to turn monthly on the last Friday of every month until infinity or until I go deaf, whichever comes first.
