Launched October 3rd with an intimate event in Toronto, Stride Recordings is a new Canadian DnB label showing a lot of promise very early on.

Headed by DJ Kapulet (creator of the CCDNB Podcast) this project currently boasts an expanding line-up of artists from coast to coast. With representation from Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto already, Stride is expected to be a major outlet for the DnB sounds of Canada.

A busy release schedule is packed with diverse beats from across the nation, fueled by the incredible submissions that have made Kapulet's CCDNB podcast so popular.

"With such a huge pool of untapped talent in Canada's DnB scene, it's been easy to find music that embodies my goals for the label," said Kapulet recently. "Smooth liquid rollers & dancefloor smashing jump-up, dark and techy DnB to minimal and funky beats, it's all here, and it's good!

"I really want to give these artists a bit of exposure to the rest of the world," he continued, "and the digital format has made that possible so quickly. The dubplate culture in the jungle scene with tunes taking forever to come out has always pissed me off, now I can take a bit of control and make things happen the way I think is right."

There is no questioning it. A massive schedule of releases is planned well into 2010 spanning all genres of the music. Clips, examples, and free promotional downloads are available on their website and numerous social-networking profiles now, and they're always accepting demos for consideration at www.striderecordings.com

Stride's first release hit the digital shop on October 15th, The Future EP from Toronto's best kept secret Vice LaVice. Four tracks of funky, danceable, and very bass-heavy liquid beats make up the label launch pack ... I especially enjoyed Jolly Boatman for its filthy ragga samples and warped bassline. Get it, and a number of other notable Canadian releases, here.
