Got a mission statement? Give one to us...

We are all about quality parties in great venues with great sound. Whether it be a slew of talented locals or major international talent, a Suave party is always a damn good time. As Suave Assassins we took on Vancouver's bass music scene in late 2008 with our Signature Sundays weekly. Along with other promoters' monthly events we helped reinvigorate VanCity bass music to where it should be.

What five things are the most important to you in setting up an event, and why?

Fans: We adore our fans, and would be nowhere without them! Nothing makes us happier than a sea of grins and bass faces on a packed dancefloor. It's a great feeling to share your love of music with such a loyal and appreciative crowd. Special shouts to our international podcast fans – we know you'd be here with us if it weren't for that pesky plane ride. FYB SA4L!

Organization: The key to any successful event is planning and organization. As boring as it might sound, staying in constant communication with your crew, booking agencies, travel agencies, affiliated labels, distributors, radio shows, venues, and social networks is a big challenge as a lot is on the line. Coordinating them all makes for smooth and relatively stress-free events for us, which translates into an amazing time for our patrons.

Vibe: Every show has DJs and the music we love, but we've always been committed to bringing a little something extra. Be it a James Bond casino theme, free champagne, dance troupes, surprise guests, custom visuals, or great contests, there's always a tight vibe at Suave shows. We like to party!

Talent: We are truly blessed to have such an amazing pool or DJs, MCs and producers at our fingertips. International acts we bring in speak for themselves, but it's really the carefully selected locals that ice the bass cake. Our hand-picked local line-ups aren't just time fillers before the main event, but the people we rely on to shape the party into a stunning apex for our headliner to annihilate.

Promotion: It takes work to get results. Be it chatting people up at the clubs, hitting the streets with posters and flyers, or networking like crazy on the social networking site of the month, we hustle to get it done. Making sure people know about what we're doing and why they should check it out is essential. Eye-catching designs, a bi-weekly podcast, intriguing write-ups, and innovative promotional tactics are just a few things that set us apart from our competition.

What future plans do you have for the company?

For 2010 we're ramping up our production skills, with Clix adding to his release schedule on Frozen O's Records out of Whistler, and the whole crew putting time into the studio on tracks. We have a number of shows planned, always keeping our emphasis on quality over quantity, a few hush-hush headliners, and possibly our first all-nighter. We also are relaunching SuaveAssassins.com and the Suave Assassins Podcast for its third anniversary. New site, new sound, big things!

How much time goes into the planning & promotion of your average event?

Our average events take 6-8 weeks of planning and promotion. Some days are just an email or post here and there, and some days it's 30 texts an hour, dozens of calls, and a slew of emails. We've found that the more time we give ourselves, the easier it is.

The funniest thing to have happened at one of your events?

Well, amongst the many instances of hilarious debauchery, the best had to be when we decided to give people an added incentive to come out for our Thunder Bass event last year. Sinesthetix ate a dead scorpion on stage. It was crunchy, but delicious.
