Living through the massive growth of drum & bass in Toronto the past 10+ years has filled me with stories, many are sure to stay locked in memory for the rest of time... These stories all have soundtracks and now reliving them is a lot easier! Empire Productions (Ryan Ruckus, Tones, & Diligence) are some of the few and proud supporters of Toronto's DnB community right from the start, and as you dig into the MP3 archives they've just released, you'll see why.
Empire Productions events, particularly the Droppin Beats series, are nights that I'll never forget. Special mention and slightly biased favouritism go to the September 2000 Renegade Hardware Label Night sets, with Usual Suspects & Illfingas truly stealing the show...
There are live mixes here spanning ten years of Toronto's electronic music history. The music during this time period impacted more people than we'll ever fully recognize, so I think it's really cool that another generation can experience the incredible audio for themselves.
Shouts to the whole Empire family, thank you!
