Arguably currently Bristol's most prolific artist, Cheba, has turned his successful club night, Weapon of Choice, into a gallery. They've joined Red Propeller Gallery in seeking out talented artists with strong political, social or psychological content in their work.
Glad we've wrapped that bit up, now I can tell you about the sick exhibition they've got on at the moment. James Baker joins TRXTR and Byroglyphics, aka Russ Mills, in this latest tour de force.
This triple threat team have been blowing up from New York to Tokyo. Fresh from his recent sell-out London show, Byroglyphics is riding the crest of a wave that broke long ago over the rest of the art world. His Harajuku-inspired pieces currently substantially outstrip their guide prices at auction.
TRXTR slammed into the US scene last year, showing alongside Guy Denning, Case and Charming Baker in LA. He also has work in the upcoming Bonham's New York Comtemporary Art Auction, alongside Banksy et al. Sex, war beauty and celebrity feature heavily amongst his mashed up mixed-media canvases.
Spinning outta Loughborough Uni's current hive of activity, James Baker completes the musketeers here. With his poly-hued world of blurred boundaries, Baker makes incredibly impactive images, blending cultures, colours and chaos. His visually complex creations are amongst the most challenging currently out there.
